Bon tardi!

Yesterday our day was too busy to keep our blog, which is the reason we'll inform you about yesterday but today too.

Yesterday we both woke up quite early and we had breakfast. Peter was planning to take us to the East-side of the island which is very beautifull. We went there around 10:00 AM and we at one point we suddenly drove through a kind of volcanic landscape. After arriving at the east-side of the island we noticed a lot of very very high waves. These waves bumped onto the rocks and caused the water to splash very high into the air (as you can see on the pictures in our previous blog). It was very nice to see and while standing on the rocks even on a 20 metres distance of the waves you could feel the salty water on your skin, caused by the enormous speed of the waves.
We got back into our Jeep and drove back to Kralendijk City but we took a different route. When suddenly: DE WEG WAS WEG!

Ok, now it was time for some pictures because this seemed quite odd to Peter because the period of heavy rainfall had already finished in February, and the water disappears by 8 cm a week. Allright, we got back into the car and, ofcourse, we needed to turn back. We didn't dare to drive through because how can you explain the roadservice whe're you're at when you're in the middle of nowhere? You can't tell them go left that the 3rd cactus because Bonaire's got so many! ;) We got back and drove a different way, when suddenly some tourists in a different car made a signal that they wanted to ask something. Peter opened his window and answered their question. They asked us whether it was a good idea to drive on but we told them they'd better not, because the weg was weg ;)

After 15 minutes we entered Kralendijk and went back home to eat a warm meal again. It was 12:00 AM when we started eating. We had potatoes, meat and vegetables. After our warm meal we got ready to go to the beach again, because we needed some relaxation again before doing the real work. We sat down on the beach for almost 2 hours, we had some drinks and around 3:30 PM we went back home to get changed for our work.

Before we started working we were in the kitchen and we saw a big Tuna fish. It was dead, of course, but still scary. When I told Lisa that it was a pity that we forgot our camera, Sue, one of the owners, suggested that she would take a picture of us holding the Tuna. Aaaah, the blood was dropping off of the Tuna while holding it, but Sue managed to take a picture of us holding the Tuna (because of the fact that the picture was taken by Sue, it was not our own camera, the picture will follow later).
During our work yesterday we met some nice American people. Emma met an American couple (this couple watches other people's houses, cats, dogs and other animals while they're away, which is quite good because they can use their house and car for free while living in a nice and warm atmosphere) and Lisa met two typical American men from Idoha (which we never heard of, and which seems to be a place like Drenthe, people in the States make fun of people from Idoha) who left their wives at home and went to Bonaire to dive.
All of these American people liked to talk to us and they liked to know a little more about our school and our trip to Bonaire which made it easier for us to put our English skills into practise.

Well, our evening of work ended around 21:45 and Peter picked us up again. By the way, we received some homework: the owner of the restaurant, Will, gave us 2 exactly the same cook books, the only difference was that 1 cook book was written in Dutch, and the other one in English. If we had time, he advised us to look at them and compare those two.
He wanted to see whether we could find some spelling mistakes.

Around 22:00 we arrived at our house and half an hour later we both went to sleep. Hopi bon (which means: very good). Our day had been tiring.

Today we had breakfast, we had some contact with our relatives and friends at home and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DAAN (Lisa's brother):

Today we learned a new song so for Daan:

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
You live in a zoo
You look like a monkey
and smell like one too!

Ok, after contacting home, we went to the local private primary school, where we would meet Femke, who we met at the bar on Sunday. We went into the building but the head of the school told us that Femke and her class were outside on the playground. We went there and we met the class. They were all Dutch kids living on Bonaire. Some kids started talking to us, they were all eager to know where we're from and why we were there. One girl was very happy when she heard that one of us was called Emma, because her own name was Emma as well. We went back into the building and we all sat down in class. Femke gave us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the class, but she explained them that it should all be in English, and so we did. The children asked us all sorts of questions, and, surprisingly, the level of English amongst the children was very good.
After that Femke gave us the opportunity to ask the children some questions. The kids age varied from 6-8 years old. They were all cute and we're looking forward to teaching.

Around 11:30 we made an appointment about when we were planning to teach. We made an appointment for wednesday the 27th, from +- 10:00 till 12:15 , which is the time school ends here. We are looking forward to it!

Well, now we're just relaxing for a moment, we just had a warm meal again which contained rice, chicken wings and a lovely salad. Tonight we're going to work again and two American people will visit Will's Tropical Grill again because tonight they can finally eat the fresh Tuna Fish which had been cut yesterday!
